An exciting few days on one of the most beautiful and enjoyable cycling routes and mountains in Slovenia. On the tour we will visit the lesser-known Kamniki mountains and then move to the Triglav National Park. The Kamniki Alps are proof that there is life in Slovenia outside the Triglav National Park, this tour is right here.
The Kamniki Alps is north of the city of Kamnik and Ljubljana, it is not very big, 900km2, but it has 28 mountains higher than 2000 meters. You can ride to the mountain from the south, from Kamnik, and from the north, to the Logarska valley, which we will do as well. By the way you can go around the mountains, but only on a 110 km long road with an elevation of almost 2000.
The other part of the tour is the already well-known Triglav area with the Millennium Railway Path, expanded by climbing a smaller pass. The cycle path built on the former millennium railway line (then used by the Italian state railways) is one of the most exciting and beautiful bike routes in Europe. In the second half of the tour we cícling on the Millennium railway Path and come back through a small pass and reach Bled as well.

About the tour
The tour consists of two parts. In one part, we live in Ljubljana (or near it – depending on available accommodation) and from there we cycling to the Kamnik Alps. We will make two trips, we will circle into the interior of Logarska and the mountains, to Kamniska Bistrica and the Logarska valley, which is one of the most beautiful valleys in Europe. Basically both roads go through river valleys with minimal elevation. On the second day there will be an uphill climb.
In the other part of the tour we move to Triglav National Park, Kranjska Gora (or close to it) and do 3 tours here. We also visit Bled on the Millennium Railway Path.
The bicycle path built on the former railway line of the millennium (then used by the Italian state railways) is one of the most exciting and beautiful European routes that can be cycled. The route is part of a larger European cycling tour the Alpen – Adriatic route, which goes from Salzburg to Grado (you can register for this route on this page!), but it can also stand on its own.
We organized this tour especially for bikers who don’t want to or can’t climb big, don’t want to ride on endless climbs, but still want to get a taste of the mountains, but only in their own way! There will be climbs, but they are not the majority. But the scenery is amazing!
Bicycle
This tour can be done with several bikes. We basically ride on asphalt, it is worth coming with a road or cross bike, but you can also come with a touring bike or gravel bike.
It is also possible to rent an e-bike. Renting ebikes is not included in the price of the tour, but we offer them at a discount than if you rent them elsewhere). An ebike is a bicycle that is powered by an electric motor. It can be adjusted in several steps, so you can easily negotiate even the steepest climbs. The ebikes are very useful for people who don’t normally cycle much, or who don’t want to exert themselves because of their age or health. About eBike rental.
Who is it for?
Those who long for the mountains, but don’t want stronger climbs yet.
Who doesn’t have a week to rest.
For those who like not too difficult tours, but want to challenge themselves on some climbs.
Difficulty
The tour is a moderately difficult (2/5, 3/5). We cycling a lot horizontally or slightly uphill, but there will be climbs, even though they are slightly uphill for kilometers. It cannot be completed with a weaker physique, but it is possible with an average one. You can find out about the levels and numbers in the detailed program tab! Read: What is there to know about the difficulty of the tours? Is the tour difficult for you?).
For your every other question we answer here: read the FAQ, send an email or call us!

The program is still being organized (mainly because of the accommodation), but may change only minimally.
”Day
Day 2: Millennium Railway Path and the Nevea Pass
On this day we will cycle along one of the main attractions, the cycle path created along the millennium railway line. We will cycle from Tarvisio to Resiutta, and from there we will cycle back to Tarvisio over a smaller, real pass.
The route, built on a section of the former Monarchy railway line, winds through beautiful valleys and majestic mountains, crossing former railway bridges and tunnels. We come back through the Sella Nevea pass on the Italian-Slovenian border. The pass is not difficult, it is one of the easier ones, only the last few km ascent steeper than average (the numbers: 17.8 km from Resiutta, the level is 779m, average ascent 4.4%). We go all the way down from the pass to Tarvisio.
Distance: 80 km, elevation gain: approx. 1000 m.
Difficulty: 3/5. Planned time: 7 hours.
Day 3: Bled and the relocation
On our third day we head in the opposite direction, towards Bled. The road takes you through a beautiful valley (with a climb at the beginning). In Bled, we go for “krémes”, and we go around the lake, and then we move (the car takes the stuff!) Distance: 60-90 km, difference in level: about 400-1000 m. Difficulty: 2/5 – 3/5. Planned time: 5-8 hours.
Day 4: Logarska Valley
On this day we will drive to the starting point (depending on accommodation), which is the top of a small pass. From there, with a short uphill, we find ourselves in a beautiful valley. After the valley, we cycling our way through another river valley, the final destination of which is the Logarska Valley, in the “inside” of the Kamniki Alps. The end of the valley is steep, but it’s worth it because you can see a beautiful waterfall. We are going back on the same road.
Distance: 75 km, elevation: 1100 m. Difficulty: 3/5. Planned time: 7 hours.
Day 5: Kaminska Bistrica, travel home
On our last day we pack up, load the car and drive to Kaminska Bistrica, deep in the Kamnik Alps, and from there we head home. The journey home takes 4-5 hours. Distance: 50 km, elevation gain: about 200 m.
Difficulty: 1/5. Planned time: 7 hours.
Our accommodations will be in 4-star hotels in Kranjska Gora and 3-star guesthouses in Kamnik in rooms with two beds rooms.
