(We are organizing two tours to the Costa Blanca in March. This is the first, the other will be a week later, March 24-29.)
Come with us to a place that attracts cyclists from all over the world almost all year round. The Costa Blanca is a 200 km coastline in the Valencian region of Spain, where long, white sandy beaches provide the backround for cycling. The region near Calpe is often featured in the Vuelta a España race and the area is a popular destination for winter cycling training camps. Most Hungarian professionals also come here to prepare for the autumn – winter – spring period.
The center of the region is Alicante and Calpe. The destinations of our tour will be the coastal part between those two cities and the inner, mountainous region “above”. The tour will be six days with six rides. Our center will be 3 km from the town of Altea in a private villa, where Hungarian professionals often go (Valter, Dina, Fetter).
The accommodation has a swimming pool, 7 rooms, a large kitchen and a living room. Accommodation is in a private, single room. The price of the tour includes breakfast and dinner (prepared by a chef), as well as one snacks after the route. The weather in this area is excellent all year round: summer is hot, but when the season is over in the rest of Europe or in early spring, when it is still cold there, you can ride in short sets on the Costa Blanca. The weather is already around 22 – 27 degrees on average at the end of March.
The one-week tour is adjusted to flights.
Travel
The departure and arrival both are by plane. Airport and transfers are by minibus.
Attention! Everyone must book their own flight tickets. The tour is between March 17th and 22nd, so the flight must be adjusted accordingly.
The flight you will take (the tour guide will also take it): Ryanair, Budapest – Alicante – March 17th 5.45 (FR9942), return Alicante – Budapest – March 22nd 20.50 (FR9941).
You can come earlier or come from another city (Vienna), but we need to discuss this due to the transfer. In this case, please call us before registering!

About the tour
If you are looking for stunning, mountainous and hilly scenery, quiet roads, great road surfaces and balanced weather, look no further! The Costa Blanca offers it all. The peak cycling season is March – April, but the more than 300 days of sunshine per year make cycling attractive at all times of the year.
Beyond the coastal areas, the rocky, mountainous landscape that provides the backdrop of the Costa Blanca guarantees perfect cycling. The winding roads connect rocky mountain passes, offering great views of the coastal plains and valleys. There are forests in the area, but fewer, so fabulous panoramas await you on every climb. The passes are not too high (500 – 1000 m), the gradients are gentle 5-7%, and only very rarely do you encounter a more difficult section.
There are many very famous and iconic passes in the countryside. These are mostly not very steep, not very high level passes or climbs, but at the same time they promise an unforgettable cycling experience due to the wonderful surroundings, the great views, the good weather and air.
On the tour we will climb all the iconic passes, wind our way into very quiet, secluded valleys, visit great cafes and enjoy the peaceful, perfect location.
Bicycle
Everyone on this tour will be taking a rented road bike. We provide bike rental (but it is not included in the price), after registration and payment we will discuss the sizes! The bike rental we offer is 35 euros/day (BMC di2). If this does not suit you, you can also rent it individually, but if you rent it individually, the delivery of the bike is your own responsibility and expense (if you do not rent it from where we do)! If you bring your own bike in a bag, the price of the flight company is the guideline (usually 100 – 140 euros round trip for the transportation of a bag with a bike), but in this case you will have to discuss the airport transfer, since the logistics of the bicycle suitcase have to be solved.
Difficulty
The tours are difficult (4/5, 5/5) and can only be completed with an average athletic physique if you have more bike experience. (Info: What is there to know about the difficulty of the tours? Is the tour difficult for you?).
For your every other question we answer here: read the FAQ, send an email or call us!
Travel by plane, arrival, then transfer to the accommodation. Since the plane leaves and arrives early, there is still the opportunity to do a warm-up ride that day, we ride to Calpe or Benidorm. Distance: 50 km, elevation gain: 600 m. Difficulty: 3/5
On our first day we climb the two highest passes. Both are in 1000 m high. We head towards Confrides, see Guadalest, then upon reaching the pass we roll down to Alcoleja, where we have lunch. From there we continue to the top of the Tudons pass, then from there we head down to the beautiful town of Relleu. Distance: 115 km, elevation gain: 1900 m. Difficulty: 5/5
Visiting the most famous local pass and the Evenepoel funclub pub. Before Rates we take a secluded road in a beautiful mountain village, then on the way back we conquer the Rates pass. Distance: 100 km, elevation gain: 1800 m. Difficulty: 4/5.
Another beautiful and complex loop. The first pass will be the Creueta. We head towards Callosa, but instead of Rates we cycle towards Castells. We eat in Castells, then descend back towards Parcent, where we stop at the best café in the area. From there we cycle up to the Bérnia Pass and from there we go home. Distance: 100 km, elevation gain: 1800 m. Difficulty: 4/5.
We cycle around the brilliant Vall d’ Ebo, one of the most beautiful loop around here. Quiet inland countryside with slow villages. The tour starts on the Xaló – Parcent route, then reaching Vall de Ebo we make a loop in the valleys. On the way home we come on the Pego – Orba route. Distance: 145 km, elevation gain: approx. 2400 m.
Difficulty: 5/5.
Since the flight leaves late in the evening, we will also drive to the Guadales reservoir on this day. Distance: 65 km, elevation gain: about 1000 m.
Difficulty: 3/5.
