If we look at the heat map of cycling around Budapest, we can see that the bikers cycling out of the city mainly towards the Buda Hills, the Pilis, the Danube Bends and the eastern parts (Csömör, Kis- and Nagytarcsa, Gödöllő, Szada, etc.). However, there is an unknown but well terrain and rich in attraction area around Budapest, and this is to the West. This is the Dunazug Mountain (Dunazug means: Duna corner), which includes the Gerecske, the Etyek Hills, the Zsámbék Basin, the Budaörs and Budakeszi Basins and the Tétény Plateau. If we extend it a little further south to Lake Velence and we include the Vértesalja and the Venetian Mountains with the Vál Valley we will have an area that could be the Mecca for cyclists around Budapest. The area is great for cycling 'cause it has many light traffic side roads. Unfortunately there are not a separate bicycle lanes, there are still few such routes in Hungary, but maybe they are starting slowly. On the other hand there is little traffic on the small roads and the drivers are quite cultured. Its terrain is also bicycle friendly because although there are larger uphills, we usually only talk about hills between 100 and 300 meters (these hills are not mountains) often with enjoyable roller coasters and slopes. The roadbikers have been training for these sections for a long time, so there are a cyclist, few people come here for trip. As I live from Budapest to SW, this is my primary destination for the cycling. Each of the routes shown here has been cycled all many times and I personally recommend it. Of course route sections can be changed individually and there are countless route variations. There are fast training laps and longer turns, routes can be combined
